We LOVE Reels and IGTV. Here’s why.
Since launching, Reels (launched 2020) and IGTV (launched 2018) have become a mainstay of social strategy for brands who are keen to see results.
In recent conversations, we’ve come to understand that there’s a bit of uncertainty about what they are, which is understandable. They’re a reasonably new kid on the scene! Basically, Reels are short 15-30 second videos that can be made up of one long clip or a series of clips edited together, with the ability to overlay music and text through the app. Whereas IGTVs (literally Instagram TVs) are longer videos (up to 60 seconds) that work wonderfully for interviews or creating a mini-series.
Instagram’s algorithm favours this kind of content, which is why so many of our early-to-adopt clients and colleagues have seen some fantastic results over the past few months.
Some are reporting follower increases of up to 70% in as little as 6 months! Compared to the average organic growth rate of utilising posts alone where on a good day, you might expect growth of around 12.6%, that’s quite incredible!
Others have seen staggering engagement increases, and even conversions (sales).

It’s no wonder we’re getting on the bandwagon. Naturally, we want to get our hands on anything that will get our clients the results they deserve.
We have been testing our latest Reels and IGTV offering in recent months and we’ve seen some exciting initial results. One of our clients is a local jewellery store in Springfield, greater Brisbane. We went to their store and took some footage with our iPhone and then used this to create short Reels, which we shared to their Instagram account.
We saw average impressions increase a whopping 176%! And it’s just the beginning. With some consistency, we expect to see this skyrocket even further.
