Reel Talk

What’s all this talk about Reels? If you’re not across the latest Trend on Instagram, it’s time we got you up to date!

Basically, Reels are Instagram’s response to the TikTok trend. They’re short, entertaining videos that can be 15, 30 or 60 seconds in length. Contrary to what you might initially think, they are an excellent way of expressing creativity and bringing your brand to life.

We love Reels because they are one of the few ways you can achieve organic reach. This is because, unlike static posts, which in most cases may only appear on the feed of the users who follow you, Reels can appear on the Instagram explore page and now even within the Facebook page – meaning that they can reach users who don’t follow you. Which is a big deal if you’ve ever asked the question “where did my organic reach go?!”

Here are our top tips for using Reels to grow your brand:

  1. Use audio - using a trending song will help you get even better organic reach. Or, an interesting song or a voice over to catch and keep people’s attention.

  2. Include captions and hashtags - just like any other social media post, you want to get across a message so make sure you utilise all angles!

  3. Work with content creators - if you’re feeling a little uncertain, partner with a content creator who knows how.

  4. Share behind the scenes content - Transparency is key when trying to engage with your audience. People love to relate, and what better way than to show them a day in your life.

  5. Use an original Reel cover - when you upload a Reel you can choose a cover image that will be displayed on your profile feed. TIP: Uploading an image can help make your feed cohesive.

  6. Re-share your reels - Re-sharing your reels to your story gives them an extra channel to get in front of your audience.

  6. Click ‘profile display’ near the bottom of the page
