New year, new strategy?

Last year was another tough one for many businesses – big and small. Going into an unpredictable 2022, it’s never been more important to have a strong, yet flexible, social media strategy - one that is built on data and that allows you to bend with the times.

Where to start?

We always start the new year with a comprehensive review of our accounts to identify what has worked, and what hasn’t. We look at how both organic and paid content has performed, what channels have performed well, and what types of content worked best to engage and convert. Furthermore, we look at the competitive environment to see how our clients are positioned, as this can change over time. With this information, we review our strategy to see whether we need to make any updates.

What should you be factoring in to your strategy this year?

Here is what’s on the top of our list:

  1. Zoom in on your Community: it’s time to think one-to-one. Human to human. Narrow down who you are speaking to and tailor your messaging to their needs. Show you care. Respond to their enquiries quickly. Be friendly and helpful. Put the social back into social!

  2. Use Instagram REELS: Visual video content is not only useful in grabbing users attention but it is far better at conveying your brands ‘personality’ or message than a photo. Interesting, narrative-driven videos are much more likely to receive higher engagement and on an odd day can go viral!

  3. Collaborate With Creators: In 2022 the influencer industry is forecasted to be nearly 14 billion dollars and growing. Using influencer marketing not only can get the word out about your small business by reaching a specific target audience but promotes authenticity as the brands message is in the hands of the influencer. Our tip for finding the right influencer is to find your niche, and then you find a creator who has the same niche.

  4. Contests and Giveaways: This one is a great way to create organic brand awareness by generating leads, engaging your customers and increasing your audience reach! A low-barrier competition can engage a vast amount of users through a simple ‘tag a friend’ or ‘repost to your story.’

  5. Try new platforms: Times have changed, so it’s time to expand your horizons! Do your research and find out what your audience is using. Some popular options include Pinterest, TikTok and SnapChat. Or for B2B, LinkedIn! Use this year to test and learn.
